Instrumental Music

Hey There!
I hope you have good plans for this Easter weekend! I've just topped up my electricity meter and calling mates to organise more social events in London from next week. My music's starting to take shape & I'm pretty excited about pushing it as far as I can take it.
I essentially write lyrics first, so it's really important to become more musical for me. The best way of doing this is to write instrumental tracks that will hold up on their own.
When I'm working, I like to listen to instrumental music. Vocals are too distracting and capture too much of my attention.
If you're like me, you love the vibe of the song and if its got your foot tapping or your head bobbing, then the creator has been pretty successful.
Instrumental Solo
Have a listen to this rehearsal of lead guitar playing over my backing track for my song - 'Smile'. I'm trying to get a sound and feel that would eventually be replaced by a lead vocal.
I'm a big fan of Mark Knopfler and play with fingers so sometimes I'm playing several strings at a time... rather than a single string melody. I think it adds warmth & texture and more or less follows the melody of the song.
Busking To Pay for Studio time

We had a jam last week busking but my 10watt amp couldn't be heard near the road next to his 200watts!!
Testing Gear - Fishman Acoustic Amp
I've been mixing and working to develop my production skills to create awesome sounding tracks over the Winter. I think the Spring will bring new energy and get me out and about performing these songs with other musicians for new audiences around London.
Music Festival Brighton -

Don't forget - The Great Escape music festival is on in Brighton May 17-19. It's a great excuse to pile down there for the weekend... join me!!
